Denise Lyons Kim has simply taught me the proper way to exercise in order to be healthy and strong. I am (once again) strong, muscular, healthy, & energetic. I love to exercise. Kim helps me to keep taking it to the next level. It has become my sport. I compete with myself. After having my son 6 years ago- I lost my flat muscular tummy and my buns of steel. (Darn estrogen)- My rock hard body of my youth became "fluffy" despite lots of work at the gym. *Now do not get me wrong- I was considered healthy by most standards. No one would have said I was obese. But clothes hid that I did not have the right muscle-to-fat-distribution ( I was skinny fat). Now in my "fluffy" state- I suffered from chronic low back pain and fatigue. I did not like the way I looked or felt. I thought it was because I had a kid and worked. I thought it was from degenerative disc disease that showed up on my MRI. I was frustrated with my fat situation.What was I doing wrong? I was on the treadmill for an hour 3-4 times a week and I did toning exercises and light weights. I decided to train with Kim for a few sessions and see if I could pick up some new exercises or routines...my intention was to buy 5 sessions and then continue on my own. But now a year later- I work out with Kim once a week to keep me on my toes! Here is what I was doing wrong- 1) my intensity was not high enough- it simply had to be at another level. I added interval training. 2) my weights needed to be heavier- more muscle equals higher metabolism- and lower fat levels. Kim taught me that I was capable of heavy weights, showed me how to do it properly and BOOM = results! AND 3) I never worked my chest or back- um....who knew? My arms get more of a work out with back rows and chest presses. And having strong back muscles resolved my chronic back pain. No more pain. Kim has been so creative with our workouts- I have NEVER done the same routine twice and we have been working out together for a year. She is inspiring, real, and fun. She loves to show me how I can have a real workout at the playground with my son. (Multi-tasking) or she will throw in a tire for me to run with.....she makes me laugh.
